We have an iMac with a 3TB drive. The drive was replaced under a recall. In trying to install Bootcamp, I get a message that I can't install Bootcamp on a startup disk and the install windows choice is greyed out. I have gone into the Terminal and unmounted and deleted all volumes and went into DiskTools and reformatted and repartitioned the drive and I still get a message after reinstalling a fresh copy of Yosemite that I can't install Bootcamp. What's going on?

No, you can't install Windows on the Mac's boot drive, that should be obvious. However, Bootcamp should offer you an option to re-partition the drive. Once that's done, you install Windows on the newly created, empty partition.
Helpful?
Also, I'm moving this thread to the Alternative OS forum, where it belongs...

Normally, it goes like this:
Open Boot Camp Assistant.
Tell it how much space should be allocated to Windows.
Follow instructions.
That's pretty much it.
At which point is it telling you that it can't install something?

Jdonahoe,
You can install BootCamp on your Mac OS X, but before that you need to make a USB flash drive. After that start your BootCamp Assistant.
Now, perform the below mentioned steps:-
1. Go to Applications > Utilities> BootCamp assistant and then right click to Show the package content.
2. Add read and write access to the administrators on the folder contents and the file info.plist
3. Edit the file usingXcode.
4. Now, follow the steps appear.
Or, you can also take the help from these two links.
