I just sent an email and am trying to recall it. Is this possible in the mail app of 10.3.9?

Sorry, this is not possible with the standard mail protocol used on the Internet today (SMTP)

Right, this limitation is not app or OS specific.

I appreciate the help all. I should've known, at work of course we're using an intranet where this kind of thing can be managed.

The mail server at work (probably Exchange/Groupwise/Lotus) is what allows you to recall messages at work.

Even then successfully recalling messages is not always successful. We use exchange at work and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't

We use Exchange/Outlook at the office as well and I've yet to see the recall message functionality work. Usually you see the original message and the message following it is "Joe Blow is recalling message ....".

Recall only works if you recall it *before* the recipient reads it. So, pretty much you have to recall something immediately.

AOL used to have a recall feature. As long as the recipient hadn't downloaded it, you could delete it. But that was centuries ago, during the Dark Ages of analog modems and dial up.

If you control the servers and your recipient is local, why not delete the message at the file system level? (Or, in the case of Exchange, the DB level)?

Back then, you had a few hours because your message probably hadn't even arrived yet.
