My mother got a scanner and needs help.

She got some all-in-one thing. Her main reason for getting it is to be able to scan her cooking recipes and be able to search through them.
Whatever scanner she got has some crappy scanning software that can scan, but the interface sucks and its just too complicated for her to deal with.
I am seeing if anyone knows of some apps out there that can scan. She also needs to be able to add tags to each scan (it can do jpg or pdf) (metadata?) so she can search and organize the recipes.
Does such a program exist? How about just a good scanning program?

Image Capture - included Apple software - works well if it's compatible with the scanner.

ah thanks I am familiar with Image Capture. Does that mean iPhoto can scan as well? She could use that and add tags to her recipes..

iPhoto can't scan, but in the time it takes a page to scan, you could probably take your previous scan (or scans) and import into iPhoto.
