Enterprise Rent-A-Car
==============
Recently used this company to rent a car for a few days. Due to the nature of my trip, I was given a set number of miles to use. Over this amount, I would have to pay $0.20 per mile over. I got a good rate due to the Costco discount and was given a premium mid-sized sedan for a normal sedan rate. I was over by about 200 miles, but the kind lady reduced that to 100 miles, so I only needed to pay $20 extra. Would definitely come back.
McDonald's
========
People say many things about it, but I love it. Very convenient, fast service, good prices, and supports Apple Pay. I like their new premium burgers also. Just need to clean their tables more often.

There's a local startup named Shurpa, where you send all your packages to them, and either pick them up there, or they will bike messenger them to you inside a one hour window.
$30/month unlimited packages. It's a godsend.
They won't hand deliver oversize packages, but I live a few blocks away from them so doing a quick pickup is very little hassle.
The only downside is the dog they have defending the place acts like he wants to play with you but really kinda doesn't. Aggressively so.

Some of their staff. I believe it was 142 who qualify.

Chik-fil-A: Their employees are always incredibly nice, and their food doesn't leave me feeling like death when I leave.
Honda: Their cars last forever, have tremendous resale value, look decent, and aren't seriously overpriced.

I think Chik-fil-A staff probably have to be extra nice in other areas to make up for their bosses being assholes.

Since you haven't actually been to a Chik-fil-A perhaps you are wrong. The support they got was positive and financially rewarding. The opposing view, not so much.

That's what's disturbing. No matter how you feel about this particular issue, how can we curtail certain corporate behavior if people forget about the troublesome behavior after 5 minutes?

Define troublesome: Illegal, unethical, or distasteful?

People bitch about Walmart, Target, Facebook (including on Facebook), Comcast, Best Buy, etc. all the time yet people still buy their stuff. Maybe boycotts only work for non-monopolies?

On focus guys. This is not the political forum.
Amazon is nice. I had a chat with their customer representative last night and the problem was resolved amicably. The only problem was finding the link to chat was kind of burdensome.

Amazon is great. So much so that even with sales tax now, I still prefer them.

Yep - Amazon is a winner. Two-day shipping, Prime Video, I love them. And in my experience if you have a problem with a shipment or a seller, they're like American Express - they take care of the problem and send a team of assassins out.

Well, you gotta pay extra for the two-day shipping and prime video. But I think it's a good deal.

I get about 30-40 packages a month from Amazon. It's a steal with my use pattern.
Though it should be noted my use pattern is driven by Prime and One-Click.

Well, yes. The yearly $99. But you can offset that by choosing a slower shipping method to claim an extra $1 here and there. Prices for basic things in my hood are obscene, that $99 is easily recouped in a couple of shipments.

It's still a thing, I have several friends that won't eat there out of principle. However, I think the backlash against Chick-Fil-A backfired as it brought out of the woodwork a whole lot of people disguising homophobia as religious freedom and Chick-Fil-A ended up with more business from people supporting their right to discriminate. Every time I go there the place is packed with a church youth group or people wearing clothing representing the local Christian school.
But like subego and Häagen-Dazs, those chicken strips with the Chick-Fil-A sauce are so good that I'll forgo my moral objections to their business practices. And waffle fries. And lemonade so sweet it makes me shiver.

Sauder, the US-based maker of flat-pack furniture kits. Best customer service anywhere.
A few years ago we bought one of their large book cases. As I was assembling it, I discovered that one of the large 7-foot tall side panels had been routered wrong, giving it grooves on both edges, instead of a tongue on one edge. this was late in the day, but I called their customer service anyway. There was no drama, no "prove you bought this kit" or anything. They simply took the information and politely apologized, saying they'd send out a replacement panel.
I, of course, expected the usual 5-business-days delay. Imagine my amazement when a FedEx truck pulled up at my house the very next day with the replacement panel. They overnighted the thing immediately. Pretty impressive.

I was just about to do a "WTF Amazon" thread. Their shipping times have been crap lately, 3-4 days instead of 2 (I've resorted to selecting 1 day shipping as default for most things, to make sure I get them quickly), and their prices and availability on electronics have been mediocre lately. They're cutting corners and it shows.

Their app ****ing rocks.
This was over 15 years ago, but I ordered a $6,000 (back when that meant something) piece of gear. I decided I didn't want it, and it had broken itself.
They totally took care of me.
Used that money to build a render farm out of iMac DVSEs. One of the best Macs ever.

They make a great sandwich, the stores are clean, and the people working there are extremely nice. I go there at least every other week, and if some people don't like it, they're cordially invited to sit and spin, my middle finger is extended just for them.

Going through the drive through once, the window attendant told me that the lady sitting next to me was very lucky and that I look like Prince William. Even though he's the balding, less-attractive prince, I'll take what I can get.

Reversing a policy in the face of economic consequences is hardly a change of mind. Also, you've just told me everything I needed to know about you, so cheers for that.

Good, we got that out of the way. As an egalitarian I fully support equal rights for everyone, but like modern feminists, the lion's share of people within the LGBTQ community don't want equality, they want superiority, and will push an issue far past its breaking point, mashing their opponents' noses in it.
It probably is about being on the bottom of the heap for so long that they're overcompensating, now that they're one of the "causes du jour" and media darlings, but the winds of acceptance change because humans are fickle creatures, and if the situation with straight white men is any example (it is), it can happen before there's time to react. So the moral is, when you're on top, don't be d-bags, show that you're better than that while you have the chance, otherwise the cycle will continue, and the next time you're on the bottom it'll be much worse for you.
