What are the best kind of speaker's you can get for a Mac that are fairly reasonable in price?? I've been looking around, but I can't really decide on anything. I currently have an iSub and an iMac. The sub is awesome, however, the speakers need more treble with less distortion. The thing is, I won't have this iMac for long, because I'm going to get the next version of powerbook instead....so any suggestions to a good buy for speakers???

I've looked at monsoon speakers already. My PC friend has some. In fact, they're pretty nice. However, when the volume is cranked on them, they tend to distort badly. I also noticed that the sub doesn't get as strong as the iSub.

Depends. How much money do you have? You might want to give these a shot http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm?pa...9&languageid=1

I myself own the Z-560s and they rock. Couldn't be happier =D

The Z-680's are pretty expensive, but the Z-560's look promising. Do they have nice treble for them being so small?

And how large is the subwoofer.....6in?

Which ones do your friend have? My m-700s rawk. HOWEVER...try the m-2000s. 340 watts or so...they are incredible.

Klipsch ProMedia are awesome as well...and I forget the others, besides the z-680s....

Last time I checked, speakers were cross-platform. There shouldn't be anything preventing you from using "PC" speakers with your iMac.

I ordered the Altec Lansing ATP3. I read in several magazines they were one of the best. And they are not expensive ! Check Cnet for more details !

I don't exactly know how big the sub woofer is.. Looks to me about 12 inches or so. Not quite sure, but it's big. Veeryy big =). The spakers are THX certified, and sport 400 watts. I love them .. Excellent for listening to music/games/movies/etc. and you can get them realllly chaeap at http://www.newegg.com
Read the reviews on that site. People wouldn't give them up for anything. Give your ears a treat =)

My iMac 800 FP came with the Apple Pro Speakers. For a cheap PC speaker I think they sound pretty good. However, I also have an iSub which makes for a richer listening experience.

I'm also curious about Apple's crappy soundcards....Are they able to handle surround sound systems such as Klipsch or Logitech or even Monsoon? Ones that are 4.1's and 5.1's and all that crap. Sorry, I'm not real fluent in surround sound talk. I'm very confused. Which direction should I go?!?!?!

And to answer your question, my friend owns the MM-702's I think.

For surround sound, I think you need something like Sonica
