I came upon the following PCI board that give you DTS sound or Dolby Digital sound on a Mac.

Has anyone here used one of these things? The reason I ask is because while 5.1 sound drivers are fairly common in the Windows world, I don't know of any Macintosh programs that really use them. So is it a fish dead in the water? I notice that the supplied software is all Windows as well.

I know they've been at MacWord Expo before so I wonder if anyone had any experience with them - even if only seeing it on a table.

Great story. Thanks for the link. Sounds like the Apple DVD player sucks. But it also sounds like Apple is making a major push for sound, so hopefully that will be fixed in 10.3.

Tony Hawk and a few others tools with the boards are PC only. However the rest are either Mac or Mac ports. The downside is that the DVD player is rather limited - even more than Apple's.

Here's a thread on the same subject I just found over at Ars.
