Does anybody know what this problem can be? Is there a paper-clip hole, like on Imac's? I need to know if there is a way to fix this problem, before bringing in for repair.

What is your exact prob? Is it unable to mount CDs? Why are you searching for a paper-clip hole (thats meant to be used if an inserted disk fails to come out)?

The problem is that it does not "grab" the disc when I'm trying to insert it. I've even tried forcing it a little bit and there seems to be something stopping it. If there was something mounted, it would show up on my screen. I have tried to restart while holding the trackpad down and nothing has been ejected. I'm serious when I tell to that I am not sure if there is a disc in there. I'm 99.9% sure there is not a disc. What should I do?

Is there a way to force a disc out (a la paper clip hole), if there is a disc stuck that I do not know about?

After how many centimeters of inserting the disk is it stopped by this something? If a cd is already inserted, the barrier is reached when you push it in after only 1/2 centimeter. And: What modell have you got? The behavior of the intake mechanism has changed during the different modells.

It also depends on the modell. I think the first revision had this "paper-clip" last resort mechanism, but the last rev. got rid of it (anybody correct me if im wrong).

It's a last rev. model. It gets stuck and it can go exactly halfway through the drive, but as I said it is not "grabbing" .

Sounds like theres something wrong with your drive, let your dealer have a look at the machine...

No!!! That's exactly what I didn't want to hear. Does anybody else have any ideas for me? I really do not want to bring it into "the shop"!

Thanks Pat for all of your help.
