I have a QS dual 800 with GeForce2MX 32MB.
Is the new dual 1.25 with Radeon9000 64MB going to in reality be faster?
I'm most worried about the 2MB L3 reduced to 1MB.
Has anyone used both?

Of course it'll be faster.
If you're worried about graphics get a new video card.
I can't believe people are ALREADY wanting to ditch their machines! O_o

I have a G4 533MHz DP and am also rather tempted to get a new machine, but (from my experience playing at the Apple Store) the 1.25GHz does not feel much faster than my machine and it will be even less noticable with yours. It certainly does not feel $2,000 faster. The 800MHz DP you have is still pretty much top of the line. If you have extra $$ to spend on a Macintosh (and if you don't currently own a laptop), consider a new Powerbook or iBook. That's what I am recommending to myself anyway...
Have fun!

LOL, I'm trying to ditch my four month old dual 867 G4 for a new dual 1.25 G4. Noise reduction and Radeon 9000. Is that really worth 600 dollars?

I say don't waste your money. I have a single 533, and its plenty fast for me. I know its old, and sure sounds slow, but with my Radeon 8500 and 640 RAM, applications open in 1-2 seconds, and all my games play at the highest settings at a fine frame rate. I've been waiting patiently for a decent processor swap to come about on ebay, but for now my single 533 is doing its job perfectly fine. The only reason I'd see you needing a whole new machine for that little increase is if you do some kind of video processing/rendering...family first man!

IF you NEED the speed NOW, get it. If not, wait for the big guns (970)

I had time to sit around since my video encode was 3.5 hours...
Yeah, I had a dual G4/450 as well when my dual 800 was new.
In day to day click here and there use, my dual 450 was not much slower. In rendering my dual 800 was faster. Otherwise not much difference.
I'm leaning against it...
thanks!

Will sure be faster. But I don't think the difference is large enough to justify an update now (aka before the PPC970 PowerMac comes out). For average users, an upgrade cycle of two to three years is absolutely sufficient.
Except if you really do stuff that requires a new machine now (heavy video encoding, editing as in earning money with it).
Expand your RAM a bit (to at least 512), add another video card if you have to (aka as in gamer) -- if you are not a gamer, then you don't need to upgrade anything except for the RAM.

RAM for the QS is cheap, dump 1.5GB in it, and sell your current RAM on Ebay. You will notice a nice speed boost, enough to justify waiting untill the 970.
