Apple has updaded the iBook!!!
Lets compare it with the 12PowerBook:
Here's the top of the line:
IBook , M9009LL/A, 900MHz PowerPC G3, 14.1-inch (diagonal) TFT XGA, 512K L2 cache @900MHz, 640MB SDRAM memory, 60GB Ultra ATA drive, ATI Mobility Radeon 7500, 32MB DDR video memory, Combo Drive, Built-in 56K v.92 modem, AirPort built-in, Up to 6 hr. battery life. $1,778.00
PowerBook 12.1-inch TFT Display, 1024x768 resolution, 867MHz PowerPC G4, 256MB DDR266 SDRAM, 40GB Ultra ATA/100, Combo Drive, NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go, 32MB DDR video memory, 10/100BASE-T Ethernet, FireWire 400, AirPort Extreme Ready, Bluetooth built-in, VGA & S-Video out. $1,799.00
Almost the same price!!!
I would use it for Publishing (pressing works).
Which is the Best one to buy?
12" vs 14"
867MHz PowerPC G4 vs 900MHz PowerPC G3
...and so on...
Thanks
Andre.

i would never ever get the G3. It's too slow for OS X I feel. I used to have an iBook, just seems everything is much smoother with the G4. I just got the 12" PB and I love it. I recommend that.

This same question hit me...it's like "the new iBook is FASTER in processor speed than the 12" PB! " But, not exactly. The 12" PB has a G4 processor, and it absolutely screams running OS X in comparison to the G3 processor, even at 900Mhz I'd imagine. So the 12" PB is still, by far, a stronger and more powerful notebook, and would definitely be my notebook of choice between the two.

Also, if I *were* to get the new iBook, I'd get the 12" iBook. Why? The 12" iBook and the 14" iBook, for some unknown reasons, have the EXACT SAME native resolution of 1024x768, thus the 14" iBook gives you absolutely 0% more screen real estate, but costs you more money...this fact should be more publicized as many would stray from those extra inches for the saving of money and portability of the 12" iBook.
