is there any way to use a german keymapping in >console-mode?
or at least a german keymapping in xdarwin when its run from there?

and has anybody else encountered kernel-panics when pressing the f12-key while in console-mode?

thanx in advance

I am curious if there is a way to invoke the ">console" mode from somewhere other than the login panel. It would be nice to be able to invoke it from the GUI when things freeze up.

As to a german mapping in ">console", I'd suggest looking at termcap stuff and the TERM environment variable. Also look at stty, you might need to fake it, but it should be possible with a profile or shell rc file.

may be good to tell you what machine i'm on:
lombard/333, 392mb ram.
no external keyboard, so missing "delete" by a few micromillimeters causes "f12".
