United States:
Chicago O'Hare IL
Dulles International DC
Los Angeles International CA
Newark International NJ
Orlando International FL
Pennsacola Regional FL
Philadelphia International PA

Europe:
Lisbon Portugal
????

Military Air Bases:
NAS Pennsacola FL
NAS Sigonella Sicily

I did most of my travelling in the US Navy. I still seem to recall one European airport where the airstrip looked like an airplane graveyard. There were "parts" of planes all over the place. I know it wasn't Lisbon because we landed there at night after a 14-16 hr flight from Philadelphia PA. I'm pretty sure it wasn't Sigonella NAS, but I can't remember how many other stops I made during that extremely long flight.

An interesting question. I was just on a flight a week ago and in order to pass the time I looked at the route map and counted up all the different airports I've flown through. I came up with about 60 domestic and 15 foreign. Nothing very exotic - to list them all would bore you even more than it would bore me.

Pretty much the same here. Starting in Sweden and finishing in Italy there are very few major airports I haven't been to in Europe.

Not as many in North America but still a fair few.

i've been through a whole load, from Singapore to Hawaii. i think the scariest one was on an internal flight in the middle of India (can't remember the exact name). it was almost an iron shed, and the guards looked liket hey were itching to use the rusty rifles they were carrying. the plane was shifty too; a small propeller job, which looked like it was held together with chewing gum and duct tape. having partied hard, the night before, i was fairly numb. otherwise, i'm not sure i'd have gotten on that thing.

I can't remember all the names, but airports hardly tell the whole story.

US:

JFK, LGA, NWK
Logan, Dulles, DFW
Minneapolis, Chicago, Rapid City SD
New Orleans, LAX, San Diego, Denver ( the new one-wow ), San Fran, Oakland, Seattle

World:

Toronto, Montreal
Madrid, Paris CDG, Orly and Beauvais,
Schipol, Frankfurt, Rome, Dublin
Jomo Kenyatta, Zanzibar, Narita, Bangkok, Singapore... Jeez I think that does it. Trains stations and Bus depots however, that's a different story.

Best airport: I'll go with Schipol, Amsterdam

Next fall, I'll add Delhi and Khatmandu to that list... I can hardly contain myself!

The only interesting one I've been to is Pochentong, Cambodia (after change in Bangkok). After you get off the plane, you have to buy a visa to get into the country. It costs ten dollars or something. Everyone takes US$ there, it's like they don't trust their own currency.

I always wondered what would happen if you couldn't pay for your visa. They'd chuck me in a dungeon probably

Mustn't sound disparaging, though. The Khmer people were generally extremely generous and polite while I was there. And most I met of my generation lived through some pretty serious bad sh*t when they were growing up Made my problems seem totally insignificant by comparison.

Anyhow - bit OT there - apart from that, I've been most of the Western European capitals, and Logan, Boston. That's the only one I've ever been to in the states... for now, anyway.

Heh.

I can't be arsed to list all the airports, even if I could get them all together - mostly Europe and Asia.

The one on Tonga was similar to the one mentioned above - an open steel structure about the size of a medium gym, topped with corrugated iron. And our Boeing 737 sitting outside on the tarmac for refuelling.

There was this "entertainer" playing (and singing!) horrible muzak classics on a home organ with rhythm accompaniment.

Another real "low-fi" airport was the one at Abu Simbel in Egypt. The plane (737) was full of Arabs who'd apparently mostly never flown at all. The moment of touchdown was the greatest "sigh of relief" party I've ever witnessed.

Good times.

Hmmm, I just read the original post and he said International airports.

There are only 4 international airports on Iceland, Keflavk, Reykjavk(and now you know how to spell it), Akureyri and Egilstair. Though only Keflavk could be called an international airport, IMHO. Keflavk is probably the one you used. The others are very small and most only have international status in the summer.

So I guess my list should be even smaller. Ah, well

Sheesh, you guys call yourselves well travelled? Where are these:

Logan International Airport (Billings, Montana)

Gallatin International Airport (Bozeman, Montana)

P.S.Both are international because a plane or two from Canada flies in every once in a while.

I've also flown into Helena, MT...

As far as bigger ones, I've flown into John Wayne, LAX, SeaTac, Denver, SLC, Honolulu, San Fran.

Then there's Stockton, CA. But I try to forget it. (No offense Juan/Cheerios!)

Hey, I've been to Albany International Airport just outside of Albany, NY.
It used to be called Albany County Airport. The local politicos figured the "International" sounded impressive, so they caused great local amusement by changing the name even though there are no international flights out of Albany International.
Not even to Canada, facrissake, which is about 200 miles away.

Weird thing about most of the international travel I've done is that it has always been on chartered/private flights. We've always left from Nashville, and then flown to Newfoundland to refuel then on to Europe. On the way back we would fly to either Shannon, Ireland or iceland and then always land in Bangor to go through US Customs So there's the story...Bangor's airport is not horrible but it is pretty boring...
Yeah, about those TPS reports, didn't you get the memo?

Heathrow, London.
Gatwick, London.
Manchester, UK.
Birmingham, UK.
East Midlands, UK.
Lisbon, Portugal.
Munich, Germany.
De Gaulle (sp?), Paris, France.
Schipol, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

I then swore an oath never to get on one of those flying contraptions again. Good job I like boats.
