Wow!! This is even better. Just two days ago, i was asking about the Apple buy a bundle program.

Now with the base powerbooks at 1399, a powerbook + ipod will only cost $1585 plus tax!

Could it be the start of a full line price decrease or is it just Apple's move to gain a bigger schare of the student market? Only time will tell

Well ... I didn't write 'em down, but I believe that the above-posted prices have been in effect for the last 3 or 4 weeks at our University's Computer Store.

I think I figured it out ... faculty were getting the "Buy For Your School" price ... now that's the same (or close) to the "regular" educational price ...hmmmm, looks like a PowerBook AND an iPOD are coming into view

Now its 1399, yesterday it was still 1499

So with apple's buy a bundle program

1399+269 - 200= 1468

for a powerbook and an ipod!!

This is oh so tempting

Dumbest. Question. Ever.

But I will ask. If I bought one of these from a third-party retailer, with the $1499 education discount, just over a week ago, do I have any recourse?

Is there a 30 day price guarantee of some sort in effect... Or am I friggin' dreaming?

I think I already know the answer.

Yep. Apple dropped the pricing on all the computers, including the desktops like the iMacs, so the individual education pricing is the same now as for institutional purchases.

My girlfriend will be attending CU Boulder next year, and they've had those prices on Apples for quite a while. She just ordered a 12" Superdrive at that price on thursday. Now, AppleCare just went down $80. I hope she isn't out of luck on that $80

Check with your reseller. The Apple Store has a 10-day price-protection policy, but individual resellers vary.

This is simply an incredible price for an incredible machine. I'm typing this on my 12" PB, which my company (CodeTek) got for $1650 as an open-box return at an Apple store (the one in Indy) 3 months ago. For $250 less, it would be an even sweeter deal. And, I think the portability of this machine is incredible for any student or faculty member.

CodeTek VirtualDesktop Pro: Power multitasking! -- DockExtender: Powerful, efficient launcher for Apps, Docs and everything else!
