I'm on my second week of using Jaguar, so maybe this is normal:
After a reboot or log in, my system is painfully sluggish (and unusable) for the first few minutes.
In TOP I saw that "fix_prebin " was using up almost 90% of my cpu. Is this normal?

No. I've never seen anything like this. It's definately not normal.

I have seen it on my desktop every once and awhile. Not just because of reboots or login/outs. I am not sure what triggers it, but it kicks in sometimes and runs it course.

Prebindings for any executable get updated upon launch of the executable in 10.2, if it needs it. That might be where you're seeing it from. And you never know, it might hang for god knows what reason.

This IS normal, fix_prebinding is a useful maintnance task that your computer does periodically and after software installs. For a detailed explination of what prebinding is, do a search. HINT: it speeds application launches up signifigantly.

Ok. It sounds like it is normal. But I've never noticed any slowdown before.

I used Tinkertool to run the daily/weekly/monthly and now the binding takes about 24 secs.
Thanks for the replies!
