Yea I've seen that before..... I have also seen an iMac go to a shooting range... but yea there are an infinite amount of PC gaming geeks out there that think Macs can't play any games. Completely false.

That's a really old movie. Funny as hell, though.

The thing is, we got games, quite a few, and usually the ones that are deemed good enough to port or develop for the Mac.

The problem is that we don't really get a 'choice' as such. If it's a popular PC game, then we might get it, but what if you don't particularly like the War themed FPS, fantasy RPG or micromanagements that we get - you're screwed!

The problem with being a small platform with a smaller installed base of high performance machines is that developers are limited to their budget of how long they can spend creating stuff for Mac - thankfully we do have Freeverse and Blizzard and the like looking after us...

Unfortunately, the PC seems to be getting a lot of good games, and with Online play, getting the game two years after everyone doesn't really cut it - by the time you get hooked up on your Mac, the online community will either be dead, overun by high powered players or only have a small Mac community supporting it. Case in point - this particular forum, it's always kinda quiet in here.

" The problem with being a small platform with a smaller installed base of high performance machines is that developers are limited to their budget of how long they can spend creating stuff for Mac"

i completely agree. not only is the mac commmunity a small one, but the actual number of high performance macs (ie newer powermacs) are down there. add to that a lack of optimizaion and generally slower hardware (though not the case in the G5), and it becomes evicent why the state of mac gaming is the way it is. why create/optimize for the mac platform (with slower machines for gaming and a small user base) when you can make more money with a larger market (which incidently has better hardware for gaming)

That clip kicked ass, and the RVB team mock everyone so chill lol. Comedy is always made by taking something and bringing it close to the xtreme, that's what makes it funny. Clip is so funny haha.

eh, mac's pretty much suck for playing games(dunno about g5's though).

The drivers and options are just not as good. There are MUCH less games and many are produced by bad companies like MacPlay and Aspyr and thus poorly ported. Any game thats out for windows either:
1. is not out for mac (most likely)
2. is out for mac but is ported, has less options, worse optimizations, etc.

But thats just my opinion from spending a few months with my new powerbook.

Where are all the sports game? Where is GTA3 and GTA: Vice City? Where is Counterstrike? Where is the PSX emulator? (vgs is OS9 and flarestorm sucks for most games)

poop

Ya, old clip, still, funny.

And ya.. if you are hard core into games, then the consoles and PCs are what you should have.

But, for there are a lot of good games for mac, sometimes we get them at the same time as the PC side, other times we have to wait a year.. meh. A good motherboard, and AMD are pretty cheep these days.

It's the sad truth. That's why you own both. Get the best of both worlds. If you're a true gamer you own all three current consoles too
