If you have a bluetooth wireless phone, you can use that with your powerbook (if you have built-in bluetooth or a usb adapter) as a wireless modem. Otherwise, I believe a data cable will work. Don't have much experience wtih that.

I have successfully dialed up the internet on my bluetooth phone thru my desktop machine. Connected at a blazing 9600 baud, but it worked!

Data cable and SPCS phone will work, but its against the SPCS rules. Their Air Cards will work with a Mac I believe, if you want to pay up to $80/mo for unlimited useage. You can check out www.howardforums.com for more info on SPCS.

http://www.bluemobility.com : works with Sprint but you don't pay sprint and pay them one low price for unlimited access.

Something tells me this is not Sprint authorized, and in fact you'll be paying $80 for a connector and some instructions that you can get off the net for free, and then you'll have the same risk of being booted by Sprint as anyone else who connects over phone on a normal plan.

I just sent the following to BlueMobility... I'll let you know if I get an answer... my money is on no response...

Your rates seem consistent with Sprint's PCS Vision rates
with unlimited web access. HOWEVER, Sprint purportedly
disallows use of that plan to access modem-style. Now I
know that people often ignore that, but they also are
careful not to use too much bandwidth and get in trouble.

My questions for you:

1) Are you just using the normal plans, and thus at risk
of having Sprint kick you off if you download tons of data?

2) Have you negotiated with Sprint extremely low-cost data
access?

I am skeptical of #2 since your service directly competes
with Sprint's own much-higher-priced PCS Connection Card
service. Why would they do that?

Thanks for explaining,

Brian
