So, know how Microsoft likes to trump on Apple's announcements?

Saw this and that got me thinking about how Microsoft will typically delay a major release so that it coincides with Apple's announcements.

Checked on the date of Microsoft's next release, October 21st, and sure enough, it falls on a Tuesday...the same day that Apple makes major announcements.

So, whose willing to bet that *something* is being announced that day?

Maybe the new Powerbooks?

If they aren't announced this week and aren't announced next week, and so on, then I bet that's the date they're announced.

So, this could put an end to all of the hypothesizing until then.

I really don't think Microsoft even sees Apple as a competitor these days, let alone time announcements to 'trump' them.

Yet, if you think about it, it seems that every time Apple has a major announcement, so does Microsoft.

Well, you'll have to wait.

Anyway, even when it is released, you should still wait a couple of months because sometimes issues come up with the new models that are quickly resolved.

I've been working on a PC notebook because I got rid of my Powerbooks in anticipation of buying a new 15-inch system, so nobody wants a new system to be released more than me.

While microsoft has moved up announcements in the past to compete with apple, it seems really unlikely that they would push back the announcement of the new version of their flagship office product just to steal a little thunder. I'm sure they wanted to get that out in time for back to school purchasing run, but fell behind schedule.
