A grey screen appears with the option of rebooting or continuing.
This happens every now and then.
What's going on? Thanks

The computer is entering into open firmware, this usually only occurs when holding down the Command-Option-O-F combination while booting.
Of our 50 odd eMacs this has been a problem with 5 or 6 of them. Each one had a logic board replacement under warranty and that cleared it up. Thankfully the symptom is relatively minor and you can just type "mac-boot" when it happens to continue until it is convienient to take you machine in for service.

Thanks. I just recently reset the nvram and then the pram, and that seems to have fixed it.
But yeah, I think I best get it in before the warranty runs out. I was wondering if it was the logic board.
Tks for the response.

You may also want to try resetting the CUDA switch or just buy AppleCare before the warranty runs out. Then you are covered for 2 more years.

I was thinking of that too. I am on a fixed income, so I think it would be best to get it down to the repair shop even if the symptoms seem to have stopped.
