Sorry, no solution, but it just started happening to me. It seems I have to reboot every day when I come home from work. It will work for the entire evening though.

i just downgraded to the 3.0/5.0 software and it works fine, the 3.1/5.1 software causes it to freeze and then after a couple of hours it disconnects
so downgrade the firmware
apple did release a 5.1.1 update, but some are still having problems.

I have the same problem. It will happen if I put the computer to sleep, or even if I leave it for several hours and come back.
The solution that works for me is to turn the aiport off inside the computer and turn in back on. This is quicker than resetting the base station, but still VERY annoying.
Another solution is to connect to any of my neighbors' networks. Most people still don't use passwords!

all i did was run the old installers...this is a known issue...if the 5.1.1 update doesn't work, download the old updates and downgrade

just a quick note which may be of interest to some here:
I set my airport settings in system preferences to: join most recently used available network, and the problem is a lot less now. Not gone mind you, but a lot less!!

This happens to me a lot too - there is a huge thread on it on the Apple Support Discussion board.
At least we know it's not faulty hardware...

You guys should call Apple's tech support & let them know about this problem. Maybe it'll get them to fix this problem sooner.

In addition too the above option, I also set my channel option to automatic - for me the problem is gone now. Who knows, might even work for you!
