Does anyone know where I can find full technical specifications on the NDIF (New Disk Image Format) compressed disk image file format? This format is used by Apple's Disk Copy.

I'd also like to know how the transparent decompression works internally.

Any clues?

TIA

I cannot tell you want you want to know, but can point you at my Web site which talks about using Disk Copy with Apple Software Restore -- to restore images back to Macs.

<http://macsetup.editthispage.com/>

If you find out your info, you might want to post it there, as it could be helpful to others that visit my site. (Registration to post in the discussion group is free.)

I can give you a pointer that may lead to results. Check for the technical info on Apple's Developer site:

<http://www.apple.com/developer/>

... because they may have something more-specific about Disk Copy there. (Disk Copy is partially lumped in with Apple's installer technologies, but I don't recall any more details about it in the Installer SDK -- but that SDK hasn't been publicly updated in quite some while.)
