I think you are overreacting. The streaks are normal. I use the same stuff. You hardly notice it anyway.

I noticed the same thing. Be sure to use the dry part afterwards. If it the streaks don't appear to be coming off, rub in little circles until they do. Your screen should be nice and clean after that.

i was scrubbing pretty hard in those little circles with the dry one immediately after applying the wet stuff.....
nothing happened... so i repeated the 2-step process as instructed by the guy at the apple store...
still the same.... but DIFFERENT streaks the 2nd time
you don't notice it with the screen lit up but it MUST be affecting the resolution somehow.

It's like polishing your car... you will get streaks if your technique is a bit off. Another factor could be grease or other elements on the screen mixing with the chemicals and them not being removed completely.
Practice, practice, practice and you should get your technique down. Don't "scrub hard".
Remember... Wax on, wax off.

i appreciate that info...
are you saying that once the streaks are there and the lcd screen is dry that i must WET it again to get the streaks off and that there is no way to further polish them out on that DRY screen?
thanks again

Yes, it is possible that you might have to clean more than once to get all marks removed. Such is the nature of cleaning surfaces... like when you try to clean the mirror in your bathroom with windex or something.
You also might want to invest in a small microfiber (screen-safe) cloth... I use one for touch-ups.

I use a weak solution of soapy water and then plain or distilled water. No streaks when I wipe with a paper towel or a clean soft cloth. Most times plain water does the trick. (just moistening a paper towel or soft cloth. I mean, if there was some reason for the screen to become greasy I would use Kleer screen but under normal use the screen only collects dust. For the Ti I guess the key marks would require it but I have had a 17" since April and the screen is perfect. I feel cleaners can leave residue and will make the job harder than it should be.

No, I never ever get streaks. You should demand that Apple replace your PowerBook since they were the ones to recommend iKlear. Maybe you should sue for pain and suffering while you're at it.

I've never used anything other than a fluff/lint free camera cloth lightly damped with tap water. Done this for three years and my tibook screen is fine. I don't trust the chemical based stuff. I just lightly wipe the screen until there are no marks, it helps to look at it from different angles.
I know this doesn't necessarily help you, but perhaps useful for others

If you're not used to iKlear, you'll get streaks. I know I got streaks when I first started using it. First spray it, use the cloth to spread it around the screen and "polish" the screen like it says to in the instructions and the more and more you wipe it'll feel like the screen is becoming smooth and just keep doing that until you see no streaks, you might try switching to a dry part of the cloth midway.

Use a lint free cloth and water...NEVER EVER use a paper towel or a soapy solution The kleer screen stuff is a waste of money...water and a lint free cloth wrks the best and is alot cheaper.

Microfiber/Camera lens cloths are perfect.
I do not use iKlear, but I have a bottle of KlearScreen that I use sparingly.

When I got my iMac 800 superdrive a year ago, it came with a grey cloth to be used for cleaning the screen. hard to say what its really made out of, but it's very soft. I've since sold the imac, but the cloth is perfect for cleaning my powerbook screen. maybe someone can call apple and see if they still have any.

i guess what i really wanted to be sure of is that IF the screen got streaked by the iKlear that it is a completely fixable issue.....
in that when i clean it again that i can have a streak-free screen and that i have NOT done PERMANENT damage to the screen...
i love reassurance....
as a pediatrician i spend ALL DAY reassuring people... i guess i just needed some for me this time
boo hoo

Did you get the pack of iKlear with the blue cloths? Or did you just get a bottle of the spray. The cloths that come with it are the microfiber ones that are lint free. I guess you would get streaks easier if you aren't using the right cloth.

You know how the optometrist tells you not to use paper towels to clean your glasses? They say that some paper towels have a type of fiber in them that's designed to keep the towel from disintegrating--that fiber can scratch your glasses because it's higher up on the hardness scale than the lenses.
I don't think I'd use paper towels on an LCD...old 100% t-shirts will do just fine.

i got the iklear that game with the individual wipes
step 1 - wet
step 2 - dry
same microfiber cloths in each packet... some of which are wet
i have plenty of 100% cotton old t-shirts
maybe it's time to use them
the streaks are ridiculous
i followed the instructions
the iklears are NOT cheap
such is life
there are many more important things about which to worry
