The colors of the Finder icon and some of the widgets in the finder window are messed up. Everything else looks good however. Any ideas what is going on?

I had a similar problem. My colors were oversaturated with too much contrast. Other users were OK. I checked the Color settings in the Monitors control panel.

I ended up relocating all my prefs (~/Library/Preferences) and logged out and back in. That fixed it. I slowly added my prefs back in.

Even if you create a new account?

Did you check your Display color profile?

You may have to do a fresh Archive and Install (don't do an update)

Good luck!

I had a similar problem... see the details in thread:

My conclusion (see thread for reasons) was that there is an incompatibility between Panther and some display hardware (in my case, a clamshell iBook).

What kind of Mac and display are you using? My Thread

I'm running Panther on a Dual 533 with the OEM GF2MX video card and a Hitachi CM715 (19") monitor.

There was NEVER an issue until the Panther upgrade. X.2.8 worked just fine.

I wish I had a spare video card lying around to test with...
