Hi,

As I installed 10.3 on my mom's Pismo it was half way threw with the second disk when it said 'instalation failed'.

Hmmm...
Think I might just try disk 2 again by its self.

I've got it running on my Pismo (the computer I'm typing this on). It runs fine:
400MHz - 1Gb Ram - 6Gig Hard Drive

It just took forever to install.

Hmmm, this happened to me as well. I installed it fine on a G4 tower, but then on my Pismo I got this installation falled error. I went through and manually installed the packages on the disk, everything installed fine except the "Additional Installations" and the "iMovie" I didn't try the Internet Explorer package, cause I don't care for it. I was wondering since I have iTunes 4.1 and the latest iMovie and iPhoto, if the disc has some issues with items newer than it installed...

Until you actually boot back into OS 9 on that machine and see how much faster it becomes!

Possibly bad disc? Some optical drives are more finicky than others.

Well its working great now... I just went to 10.3 and you can install disk 2 while you are running and it worked fine then.

During the installation the fan came on for the first time in 1 year. (Just moved into an aircon house).

My mom uses it for accounting, but here in Australia we have a crazy new tax called GST, and there is no mac version of that (well she could run MYOB but she likes using quick books) so she runs Virtual PC 6.0.

But the machine is going great now.

Canada also has PST and GST so there should be some software for it I would think.

Mmm. In other words, you still think OS9 is faster that Panther on a Pismo?

All newer OS are slower and more complex(except some upgrades)

OS 6.08 is super fast but limited!
