I am personally a fan of the quasi-Aqua look of KDE ( a Linux desktop environment).

Does anyone else consider this worth a possible port to OS X?

I never understood why people want to port linux themes. I think they're all pretty horrid.

the only linux port I know of for OSX is Max's QNX:

If you ask me, it looks like XP and Aqua put together to make a kinda ugly interface.

The only linux port I know of for OSX is Max's QNX
That's Max and Me

And QNX isn't a Linux operating system it's an embedded OS for mission critical systems...

here's a quote from the product brief for QNX RTOS of which we ported the UI.

"Built to handle the extreme requirements of complex embedded systems, the QNX Neutrino realtime operating system (RTOS) gives you a solid foundation to develop the ultra-dependable products your customers demand.

Today, high-profile organizations the world over rely on the QNX Neutrino RTOS. In fact, you'll find QNX Neutrino in thousands of mission- and life-critical applications: 911 systems, medical instruments, high-end routers, aviation and space systems, process-control systems, in-car devices, and point-of-sale terminals.

What makes QNX Neutrino so suited to critical systems? At its core is a true microkernel architecture. Proven in over 20 years of deployment in embedded systems, this unique architecture provides an extensible framework for the creation of reliable, scalable, and high-performance systems. And because QNX Neutrino supports a wide variety of processor architectures, you can choose from the most popular CPUs in the embedded market, including x86/Pentium, PowerPC, ARM, StrongARM, XScale, MIPS, and SH-4."

Personally, I find that rather ugly. If someone was planning to port of a linux UI I like Gnome 2's UIs. I think they are the cleanest and most professional.

This one is pretty nice, although I don't like the colors.

You're right Lordx_, the last example is something I'd definitely use...

Reminds me of the NeXT GUI.

That first one is a theme I'd use, I'd love to port that if I had the time to do it well, but I've got way to many projects right now.

Not bad, I like the 1st and 3rd styles, the 2nd one lookd too much like XP.

KDE doesn't look bad though, I like the icons the most. Take Eylo for an example of an ugly theme that people seem to like (for whatever reason).

It's just my opinion, but I think we should be working on original themes and not copying others. The only port theme I've ever used is Watercolor.
