Hey all,
I was curious if you, or someone you know, has an Apple tattoo? I wonder if anyone actually has them, but I thought of this while driving down the highway this afternoon. The Mac OS X logo, the rainbow Apple, the new one, heck any of them.
x.

Oh god I sure hope nobody does. That is as creepy as Trekers who get a communicator tattooed on their chest.

Actually, its on her butt and she's known on this board as Mulattabianca, she just hasn't been around in a while.
Here's a link: http://digilander.libero.it/Mulattab...ac/tattoo.html

There was a thread about this long ago with more links.
There is a web page (I assume Google can find it) with tons of Apple tattoos; there's also a Wired.com article about them.
Also, the November issue of MacAddict has a pic of one.

What is with you people? That's the exact same thing someone said in the previous tattoo thread!
Anyway, I'm more of a winter guy.

Planck's constant over 2Pi.
Stolen from some website, cause I couldn't think of how to explain it well:
The constant h-bar, defined as h divided by 2*pi, has come to be a more useful constant than h itself. It is also easier to remember, since its numerical value is very nearly 1x10^-34 J-sec. Thus the angular momentum of a Bohr orbit is quantized to be an integral number of units of h-bar.
It has a lot of other related uses too, but that's the first one I thought of thanks to quantum mechanics, stupid class of pain.

Practically, H-bar is the smallest unit of energy that can exist. I think, either that or it's very closely related to that. So you can't have two waves with less than one h-bar of energy difference between them. It also relates to the minimum distance between two objects and the minimum unit of time that can pass, etc. Pretty interesting if you're into quantum physics.
Oh, and here's what the symbol looks like:
Anyway, for those of you who know of Red Vs. Blue, here's why you shouldn't get a tattoo:
1. Tattoos are permanent.
2. You are a god damn idiot.
"Take your current age. Now subtract ten years from it. Were you smart back then? Of course you weren't. You were a god damn idiot. Fact of the matter is, you're just as big an idiot today, it's just going to take you ten more years to realize it. Now think if you had drawn a picture on your body ten years ago. Would you be happy about it today? Chances are you wouldn't be."
Good point, no?

Crap.
I'm getting an Eye of Horus too.
I have a rule... I don't get a tatoo until I've wanted it for at least 3 years.
If I don't change my mind by then, I figure, I won't anytime soon.
I'm getting near 5 years for that one now, so I'll get it soon.
I have a few others planned as well, but they're not readily recognisable images like the Eye of Horus, so it'd be hard to explain.

Eye of Horus tattoo? Sad...
Just kidding. I use the same rule you do for my tattoos only I keep the idea for 5 years and then decide. My next tattoo has been designed for over 3 years now and I'm still very satisfied with the result. Seeing as it is bigger than anything I got before (Full upper arm continuing over the shoulder and covering half of my back) I think I'll wait a few more years.

I use the same ethos. I have wanted this tattoo for a good 4 years now, but never got around to it...
Although, it is made a bit weird by the fact that my g/f also has a (very cool) Eye of Horus tattoo on her shoulder... and if I have mine done we will look like a real 'couple'!
I can hear the matching tattoo jokes already!
I would change the design, but the symbol means a lot to both of us...

if I ever get a tattoo, i would have it on my foot's sole. since I have no interest in anyone seeing it, a tattoo by me, for me.
and it would probably be this on one foot:
I would have it in black though
and on the other foot could be either a chilean flag:
or a black apple logo

Yeah, and when you break up you can both get them pain-fully erased!
And yes, I;m just playing on the pain factor

OK, so, the very first edition of the New York Times Circuits section (or at least one of the first) six years ago or so had a huge picture above the fold in the main article of a guy peeling a (temporary) Apple tattoo off his upper arm. The article was about loving Macs, or no longer loving them, or something to that effect. Anybody remember this?

Yep, I still have that tattoo. No, I'm not going to change the shadows to look like on 10.3. I like as it is.
Actually I've been thinking to do another. Switch on button. Or maybe the X on my toe. Or maybe freebsd logo... I'll probably end up with freebsd pumper sticker on the car, and the switch on button (that will not be online then) ... and maybe the X too.

Well, finally had it done on saturday!
Eye of Horus on my right upper arm (nearly shoulder) in a deep, purple colour... Solid, same colour outline. it looks really crisp, and sharp, I'm totally stoked about it!
It has gone a bit scabby at the moment, but when it has healed I'll be sure to post a pic...
As for actually having it done, it didn't hurt all that much... well, not as much as I thought it would. The outline was the worst, but I only felt it at the start and end of the lines, the shading was easy. In fact,I may get another next month!
Ankh, on the bottom of my back... Hmmm.
Peace,
Marc

No regrets. No compromise. You should try to start living your life with a little less fear. Children are far more permanent than tattoos and people go head long into that with nary a thought.

Okay, so point me to the web pages showing everybody with Windows logos tattooed on their @sses. There's got to be one, right?
I'm with WD on this one-- I'm gonna be the last guy left alive on Earth without a tattoo or hole poked through any part of his body, and then I'll be the unique one, and all you folks trying to be unique with your tattoos and piercings will all be just the same.

The current flag dates from February 12, 1818.
I could be wrong, but the US flag of the time was quite different from the current one.
Now, the Texas flag does look like a ripoff the chilean flag.

I've got one on my right arm.
It is the logo for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps of which I was a marching member. So it has deep sentimental meaning.
I don't think I'd ever get one just for the getting's sake.
