djjuice is the KING!!!

Take a look:

I can testify that this works beautifully. At last support for disc burning in Panther with my uj-815.

FYI this seems to be the older DiscRecording framework from earlier releases of Panther - as discussed on XLR8yourMac.com.

Respect and thanks to djjuice.

AirForceRed, which block of text did you actually make the change to?

Sorry, was so excited that my post didn't really help that much (I told djjuice that his wasn't very detailed).

Basically all I did was replace the whole DiscRecording.framework with the new (okay, old ) one, and opened up the DeviceSupport.drprofile in BBEdit, looked for my drive - which wasn't there, but found a similar one to mine (the uj-815) here:

<dict>
<key>DRDeviceAlternateVendorNames</key>
<array>
<string>LACIE</string>
<string>QPS</string>
</array>
<key>DRDeviceProductName</key>
<string>DVD-RAM SW-9571</string>
<key>DRDeviceVendorName</key>
<string>MATSHITA</string>
</dict>
and just changed the "SW-9571" part to "UJ-815".

It worked straight away - no need for a restart even (errr - actually I replaced the framework then restarted and it hadn't worked, so I did the BBEdit bit after, and that's when it worked straight away).

(Sorry - just up - not making much sense).

I agree this works great, and does not seem to have any down-side BUT has anyone figured out how to do the DiscRecording.framework replacement within 10.3.1 ? I've been booting 9.2.2 to do the replacement, but there ARE folks out there who are legacy OS free !

Just log in as the "root" user and the framework can be replaced without a boot into OS 9.
