Ok... I recently sync'ed up my iPod, so it's as up to date as pretty much possible. My HD isn't now. What is the BEST app to make my iPod go right back onto the HD so that iTunes shows all my playlists, ratings, and artwork (which, by the way, isn't there anymore and I thought it was part of the song file). I've searched, but I haven't found anything pertinant or exactly what I'm looking for... also, the descriptions on versiontracker don't seem to list what I'm looking for either. Thanks in advance for any/all help.

do a search on version tracker or macupdate. plenty of apps for copying from the ipod. all the songs will be there. not sure about the playlists tho.

I would think that the playlists are there, since they show up on the iPod...

iPod Rip should "smart sync" your iPod and your iTunes basically adding everything to iTunes thats on your iPod...double check that first!!!!!!!!!! but i think its true.

I just had a similar problem - I lost the iTunes library file, but all the music files were there. So I'd lost all my play counts and ratings, and playlists.

I used Podworks, which was able to get iTunes to recover it's play counts and ratings from the iPod, but not the playlists. Oh well - I needed to clean out my playlists anyway.

I'm making sure I back up my iTunes library file now !

OK... iPodrip worked! However, iTunes on my HD has 5040 songs while my iPod has 4975... so what is the best software to search for duplicates?
