Hi, i have just got a new 15inch Powerbook and was wondering if someone can answer a few questions:

I don't seem to be able to boot up using certain CD's like OS9, DiskWarrior but can using TechTool 4.

Does anyone know whether this is a CD problem or if this is OSX related. If it is OSX related will a format using a clean version of X solve this problem?

I need to be able to boot into OS9 at times and also use DiskWarrior.

X

You can't boot to OS9 with a new Powerbook 15". They do not have OS9 boot capability.. only classic mode thru OSX.

Someone else told me that about a iMac I had last year, but I found formatting whilst upgrading to Panther solved the problem.

Is this a hardware issue or software?

The Boot ROM on the new Powerbook, and on any new mac, does not support booting into OS 9. As far as I know there is no way to boot into 9 on any of these new macs.

Sorry, but you're SOL.
