Riiight, so i've been using my 15GB iPod for the past month+, and all of a sudden, when i connect it to the dock, it opens iTunes, starts updating the songs (about 10x slower than usual), and then completely freezes up the entire system! Even the mouse freezes! I tried restarting both the iMac and the iPod, with no success. I don't know what to do!!! HELP!!!

Try connecting without the dock.
Try a different cable.
Try a different FireWire port on the machine.
Can you mount the iPod's hard drive and transfer files? i.e., Can you isolate iTunes as the problem?

Do you have other devices connected true USB or Firewire? If so try disconnecting them and see if the problems repeats!
