Is there a way to increase the "framerate" (for lack of a better term) of the mouse cursor?

While it's not terribly noticeable for basic use like web browsing, word processing, etc., when I use apps that require more precision such as Photoshop, the low framerate I'm getting is very annoying.

Would any of the following help?

1.) More RAM - I'm running 256MB on a 1.0 gHz 12" PB.

2.) Better mouse - I'm using a cheap no frills Microsoft Optical Mouse I bought at Staples for $15.

If you want to compare things to gaming framerates, the cursore is always running a smoothest possible framerate (60FPS). I have noticed, though, that certain tools in Photoshopthe brush, smudge, eraser, basically anything that affects the canvaswill cut the cursor framerate down (looks like it almost drops to 30FPS, maybe 40). It's really irritating. It didn't do this in OS 9 versions of Photoshop. It's done this since the very first version of Photoshop that ever worked in OS X. I've gotten used to it by now, but I agree, it would be nice if Adobe did something to improve that. I've never seen this happen in another application, though. It's never really affected my precision in Photoshop, but it's distracting, for sure.

i think i know what your talking bout, a jumpy mouse. i had this problem on my mx500, which was damaged. try another mouse and see if this still happens. this is caused by a scratched optical eye.
