I have 2 hours 50 minutes left on the download.

My question is, am I going to have to start over again with a new character? I was just getting my guy up to a decent level (17) and getting some good stuff.

Yeah, it seems silly. But they had to remove all the items due to economy flooding from people farming the monastery.

I am looking forward to all the new things though.

Too bad Talents, and Auction houses are not in yet.

Yeah, but postal mail and companion pets are pretty neat.

We'll see. I suspect I'm gonna be miserable for a little while -- I had a really nice level 18 axe waiting in the bank for me to get to that level, and now I'll never get to use it.

I'm still waiting for the download to finish. We'll have to revise the character name thread once we all get back online.

Woo hoo, my download finished over night!

And for any of you out there who aren't in the know, the guild we put together has a site and forum up and running at http://www.dogcows.net/

The current theme is only temporary, as Adam Betts said he would put something together in mid-July.

Let us know how the PvP is.

Asheron's call 1 was the only MMORPG that i considered had any good PvP. Well, it was the only MMORPG that i considered good out of everything else out now, period. Then again, i played it for over 3 years and may be a little biased, but i gave DAOC and all the others a fair shake of a couple of months.

Hoping WoW will be the game i've been looking for since i quit Asheron's Call 1.

The best PvP model I've seen came from a MUD called Dark & Shattered Lands.

Everyone started out being safe from PvP attacks until a certain level (level 7 or 8 in DSL's case) then you automatically became a "kingdomer" which allowed you to join a kingdom or just remain independent and safe from PvP attacks.

But anywhere between level 8 and 50, you could choose to become a "clanner". This allowed you to PvP. You could choose to join a clan (highly recommended since your clan hall was a safe area) or remain independent (only recommended to those that knew what they were doing...no safe area for them).

You could only become a clanner once. If you wanted out, you had to 'retire', which gave you back a kingdomer status.

I thought that was the best model. Both kingdomers and clanners existed concurrently and it was easy to cloud out the kingdomers and only focus on the clanners in a certain area.

Just FYI, it took about a week from when I accepted the invitation to when I actually got my account/login information.

What a drag- I've been downloading for over 24 hours now and it says I still have almost 9 hours left.

While I'm happy to be doing my part w/ the whole BitTorrent thing, it frosts my fanny a bit that I have uploaded almost 5x what I have downloaded.

I got an email on the 5th June saying that it had been requested for me to be signed up, and that I was on a waiting list, once they were able to add more people they would send me an email with login, password and d/l details.

Still sitting tight and waiting, but there has been nothing further as yet. The anticipation is nearly killing me!

On careful reading of the notice linked above, I notice that it's easy to misunderstand the timeline. They state that they will first launch the PvP realm and seed the update for that to existing testers, and then if the rollout of the realm goes well, they will move on to adding the new phase 3 invitees. So, it may be a few or many days yet, depending on what they consider to be the benchmark for a successful rollout...

i know its kinda hard to wait right now but in the end it works out. By the time you get the username and password, the 1000 or so people trying to quest the low level quests will have moved on making it easier for you to start up, and by making it easier for you to start and level, you'll catch up to everyone in no time. Trust me its worth the wait. One of the most beautiful and detailed games i've ever played. I sometimes forget that its beta! Still posting bugs for the game is fun in itself. Let us know once you're in, i'll be happy to help. I'm on the PvP server.

To beta testers;
So what are your impressions of the new build? i read in the patch notes that changes were made across the board for all the races. PVP server, how are like? What bout the small non-combatant pet? anyone bought that?

My warrior (level 17) seems a lot quicker in fights than he was. It's hard to compare since I lost all my weapons and armor, but I got killed by some wussy level 5 cutpurses just a few minutes ago. My armor level is about 1/4 of what it was before the update though, so that explains it to some degree.

I saw the "crazy cat lady" who was selling cat carriers for 40 silver. Alas, My level 17 only got 1.5 gold (150 silver) total to get a new weapon, all new armor, and all the other stuff I need, which got me down to about 20 copper before I knew it. I still have a lot of empty armor slots, and I forgot to buy a mining pick or a skinning knife. I'm gonna buy those really soon and mine some copper to make myself some weapons and armor.

Erm... there is a major bug in the current build that makes playing on a 12" PB Rev. B almost unbearable. The bug is the interface flashes and/or disappears, very annoying. Also, the framerates right now on the 12" are HORRID. Phase 2 was really good, but Phase 3 is just terrible. The only way to get good framerates i.e. above 20, is to turn off the interface with option-z.

Anyway, I'd try running it on the PC to see how it plays until there is a new patch for the Mac client which I know they're working on. Hey it's beta, we must sacrifice in the name of Blizzard!

I run a powerbook 15, 1.25 attached to two twenty inch cinema displays. I have thottbot open on my powerbook along with the world of warcraft message boards, the game running in my main monitor, and the third monitor with chats open and mail. It runs great. I've been playing it like this for the past month and it works like a charm. Only times i've seen lag in frames is when i am in Stormwind, but that's expected. Welcome to beta everyone. If you all need 8 slot bags, let me know. I'll be in Elwynn forest tonight.

Hey, can you make ammo pouches? I got a guy to make me a 4-slot ammo pouch for my "Dawrven Fishing Pole" gun, but I'd really prefer a 6 or 8-slot ammo pouch.

By the way, my blacksmith skill is around 90, so I'm happy to make stuff for guild members. When I get to 100 I will be able to make some really nice plate mail, so send my your silver ore, tin ore, and copper ore via the WoW postal system!

Plate at 100? I'm at 125ish and can really only make mediocre bronze armor.

And I also want your copper/tin!

I got a Plan for "IronForge Breastplate" for some murlock fins from the dockmaster in Lakeshire. It requires Blacksmith 100.
