I think I'm going to start messing with ShapeShifter and build my first theme. My question is, which should I do first. I personally like both, but I want to hear which one everyone else would prefer. So... Black Plastic, or Cold Chrome?
Thanks for voting. Comments will be appreciated.

Still don't like the traffic lights on black plastic theme, but it's better than cold chrome.

Yeah, I voted for Black Plastic, but I agree with doing something with the widgets.

I like them both but I think you should do Black Plastic first.
Although, as opposed to all the other posters, I actually like the traffic widgets, it's a nice contrast with the rest of the elements IMO.

i really dig both of them... and would use both. with that said i agree with the previous posts. the traffic widgets in black plastic make me lean toward the other but if the black plastic widgets were more monochromatic i would be swayed.
either way, i would use both.
keep it up. i look forward to either one.

Definitely black plastic but I agree with others, with different widgets.
The current ones look a bit out of place.

That's what I was thinking. I guess making a variant to satisfy all the traffic light haters wouldn't be too difficult. Maybe I'll post some options later.

Hey! Oops! I just realized that I forgot to finish the checkbox and radio button elements in the Black Plastic mockup. Oh well. You guys probably get the idea.
That drag ball is looking a bit funny too.
Oh, and if anyone has a more fitting name for Cold Chrome, please post it. The post-theme contest mockup isn't too chrome-like anymore.

Ya, Black Plastic. Remember that old thread where people were talking about the sidebar of the DVD player? This mockup is from that right? I was pondering the idea of making a theme like this if I ever got into themeing, but only got started on the buttons. Nice mockup!

I voted for cold chrome... It feels a little more original to me.
Maybe I'm just getting tired of dark themes (or waiting for them *cough*Omega*cough*)

I say Black Plastic. I just don't have a thing for light white themes. (In other words, iStyle and Milk.)

Yup. This is that one. I went back last week and worked out a method for making them look almost exactly like the Apple elements. It's sort of time consuming, but I like how it looks with all of the elements actually done.

BLACK PLASTIC!!!!!!!!
even though cold chrome looks nice, there are allready way to many white themes similar to this. And Black Plastic is a variant of an official Apple GUI (DVD player right?), which totally rocks. Go with Black!

No, I don't think you are.
Black Plastic will be first. Thanks to all who voted. I think I'll try to get started tomorrow, but there's absolutely no timeframe on this one. Sorry, but I'm sure most of you know how it goes...
I've also got another idea for the widgets that I might post up here sometime. I'll have to see how it works.
Feel free to keep commenting. Black Plastic has a pretty concrete style, but suggestions for Cold Chrome (like a fitting name) would still be greatly appreciated, as I plan to make it sometime later.

I know... How about combining them into one theme? Have the form from Cold Chrome and the fill from Black Plastic... Just a thought

The buttons in black plastic look brilliant, very nice scroll-bar. I'd probably mod it so that window backgrounds are greyish though, tried to use black themes but just can't.

To be honest, without more color I don't care about either theme because neither will come close to replacing my use of Tuxedo or Milk. And in case you were curious i haven't even fired one of those up in months. Not enoough color. I like both from a widget point of view, and they do look nice, but I wouldn't download either of them at this point. I've got at least 5 dark themes and at least 8 chrome/metal/light ones. I am sure this isn't exactly what you wanted to hear, but if you maybe added a textured color to some part of one of the themes so that it wasn't monotonous to look at, I'd probably come right back and champion it. Afterall, Watercolor, Slick Orange, BeOS and Aluminum Alloy are some of my very favorites. I'm not much for green or Latium would be a favorite as well. Good luck with your project.

black plastic, definitely
But maybe gray widgets would match better? Wasn't it originally based of the black aqua buttons in DVD Player?

Rats! This thread came alive while I was away without internet access. I started working on Black Plastic, but don't have a whole lot done. I'm still not entirely sure how busy this summer is going to be, so I really can't give you any sort of timetable.
ThemePark's uncanny ability to ruin my spirits in mere seconds might also have something to do with the fact that I don't have very much done.
I'll try to keep you updated periodically on how much work I get done.

I like cold chrome a lot.
But I noticed something wrong with the radio widgets.
Looks like the top got cut off.
