Is there a way in OS X to make ALL network traffic go through a SOCKS server? I've seen this on other platforms, but need a OS X solution.

Thanks!

Just go under sysprefs, in network, choose the interface you want and fill the proxy tab, simple.

Thanks for trying to help. I wish it WAS that easy.

A lot of things use those sys prefs for teh SOCKS server, but not all.

You could try setting your default gateway to the PROXY server, dunno if it will help.

No, that won't work. What timmerk is referring to is if there's a way to "SOCKSify" a program to force it to go through a SOCKS server. In general, applications have to support using a SOCKS server. In Windows, there's an app called SocksCap which can socksify apps. For Unix and other Unix-like distributions, there's an app called Dante that can do the same.

The only app ever written for Mac OS X that does this (and that I was familiar with) is Proxy Bouncer. Version 4 is Carbonized and should be usable under Mac OS X. I don't know how good or how effective this app is. Give it a try and report back.

Thanks ginoledesma - two things - one, it's an old realbasic app, and doesn't draw right, so I can't even use it. Also, you have to change each app's IP to localhost. I want to avoid this.

Thanks!

Karl
