I cant really find any info if the game itself is actually a single player game. All I read is the "awesome " multiplayer capabilities of the software. Can I play the game in single player mode? I would like to know this before I open the box and thus void my return to comp USA.

Yes, there is a full single-player campaign. But the real value lies in multiplayer

Yes, there is a single player mode. It's around 8-10 missions, I can't remember exactly. There are 4 difficulties. Easy, normal, heroic, and legendary. Each mission is quite long too, so check it out.

Skip the single player mode. Very very very repetitive; the lamest level design ever.

I completely disagree. While it didn't have the breadth or variety of Marathon or Unreal (my all time favs), I found it challenging. There are a few levels that were genuinely creepy (the first few with the Flood), and some that were quite hard even on the normal skill level.

And the multi-player rocks.

I think the single-player campaign is the real value of Halo. Multiplayer is just so slow and boring. UT2k4 does a much much better job. Better weapons, vehicles, and performance.

Multiplayer in Halo slow and boring? Perhaps you just need to get better at it

there is no down-side of halo simply one of the best fps' of all time. there are 10 missions. some people say that they just copied the levels, but they obviously dont listen to the plot, and probably skip the cut-scenes.

the levels are:

The Pillar of Autumn
Halo
Truth and Reconciliation
The Silent Cartographer
Assault on the Control Room
343 Guilty Spark
The Library
Two Betrayals
Keyes
The Maw

i play this all the time on the xbox with my friend, we have beat all the levels on legendary by ourselves. we have probably played 100+ hours and are still not sick of it.

Return it and get Call Of Duty. Halo is weak and too unrealistic... I can't tell what it what in that game.

All anyone does in Halo is spray and pray. Get yourself a good WWII game where there are tatics and skills involved, and not just a bunch of heavy weaponry firing randomly all about.

But, that's just my opinion...

quoted for emphasis.

Worst case of "Dj V". It made me sick at how bland and thoughtless most level are.

Copy-and-paste machine on steroid..

But.. multiplayer, I absolutely love it! IMHO, UT2k4 lacked the true fun factor in driving and shooting that Halo MP have.

I never really played the single player but I'm absolutely addicted to MP on my friend's Xbox. I've heard the single player missions are very good too. Play them all on legindary... you'll be there for quite a while!

Yes, it will be spray and pray on an iMac 800/GF2MX.

No reason to knock the game though, it's easily one of the best for pure fun. Nothing wrong with Call Of Duty either, just a different style of game for a different mood.

tanks - NEED MORE TANKS!!!!

The best fun I have had on MultiPlayer has been 16 freaks on 4 TVs - on the Xbox version - ooofffaaahhhh. don't know much about the online play, this was all in one house.

BUT single player mode was great introduction to the environment.
Check out:
http://halo.bungie.org/misc/warthogjumpmirrors.html

you can do anything you dream up.
Use grenades to put the Warthog further into a level... it will be there waiting for you.

Keep Halo - don't return it. You might get bored or you might love it.

the first time you take over a tank . . . yeah man . . . NEED MORE TANKS!!!!
