I got a g5 1.8ghz that has 512 mb ram, and has a 64 mb nvidia graphics card...hopefully VPC7 will have hardware acceleration, so the card helps out a bit. Anyway, Im just wondering if it will be possible to get fair resulsts from it....

I've heard that playing games thru VPC does not work well at all.

Well a while back someone was able to "play" cs using VPC but it was buggy, glitchy, slow, and basically didn't work at all. But at least it seemed possible, which really isn't saying much, actually it's not saying anything at all...

The only game that is playable on VPC 6 is Solitaire.
There are however rumours that VPC 7 is optimized to run on the G5 and is much much faster than VPC 6.
I wouldnt bet on it though.

Yeah-it should read "Is Counterstrike gonna be a slideshow under VPC 7?".

The main difference between VPC 6 and 7 is that the new version will be able to talk directly to the graphics hardware, thus not passing thru a processor-intensive emulation layer. I think we do have a good chance of seeing games like Half-Life play well on our macs.

It ran perfectly under VPC 3, with its native support for a Rage 128 :/
If version 7 finally restores that feature, we could start to see games playable again.

Virtual PC 7 will be fully optimized for multiple processors and will offer native hardware acceleration for the graphics card. I suspect that is why the question regarding Counterstrike was asked.

Only Voodoo 1 and 2 support because they were 3D only pass-through cards.
