A Plea for help from the Predictor@Home staff.
8/24/04 -Update of the day:
We have had and still are experiencing a lot of problems with the FastCGI server since we started using this (new) component of the Boinc platform. Since the inception this component is causing core dumps almost every minute. We have been looking for a solution for this problem continuously, but until now with no success. This morning it reached a critical point, because the cgi scheduler was returning 'no account id found' messages to the users. Because S@H is running on the Sun Solaris platform and this problem only seems to be coming up on the Linux platform, P@H is the only project that seems to be experiencing this problem (maybe climateprediction does as well, but we haven't heard this yet). Unfortunately we are not apache/cgi/fastcgi experts and we are using mainly Google to find a solution for this problem ;-) Possible causes could be: stdout/stderr redirection problems (when we remove all logfile writes from the code, the core dumps occur less frequently) or incompatibility problems with the Redhat 9 libc.so.6 library (redhat uses /lib/tls/libc.so.6 instead of /lib/libc.so.6). Are any of our users proficient in web/fcgi technology and can help us out? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
If there is anyone here who has that kind of knowledge and would like to help out, drop them a note -- boinc at scripps .edu
