The speakers are on the back of the book. They reflect off the screen toward the user. They're not bad, but not great either.

They sound lots better than the iBook speakers, seeing how they have a third midrange speaker in the middle, but they definetly aren't loud. Start lookin for good prices on a decent set of headphones or a 2.1 speaker setup (unless of course you could go the 7 speaker system route).

They're just slits in the back of the Powerbook. Nothing much to see.

They're a LOT better than one'd expect.
They're not very good, though.
(the midrange speaker is somewhere near the T-key, under the keyboard).

not very loud and not very much bass. but great for a hidden speaker .. and for a small laptop speaker in general. i always pop my headphones into it though .. great sound that way.

they sound about as good as you would expect that a laptop speaker could sound. Seriously, their freaking laptop speakers; such tiny loud speakers never did sound high quality and never will -- not to be confused with high quality headphones which do have great tiny speakers, but work on a different principle than loud speakers, namely that they can take advantage of the proximity effect -- unless Bose outdoes themselves again and pairs with some laptop manufacturer, but then at least $600 of the price of the laptop would be in the speakers.

Look at the back of the 12" PB. Under the latch mechanism is a rather large grill. That's where the fan outlet is. The inlet is on the front left underside, right next to the hole for the Kensington lock.
When the fan is on full blast I can feel the air coming out rather well.

the speakers are good for notebook speakers however don't even think about getting any bass or pumping any music at all. I just got my JBL Creature Speakers yesterday, a wise investment for $70 to add sound to your notebook.
buy.com has them for $70

The creature speakers are alright, if not a bit overpriced in many stores. IMHO there are better ways to spend $70... however it does appear that you got them for a decent price, and I must say that they do look awesome.
A nice set of 2.1 or 5.1 w/ a 5.1 usb sound card would be idea.... logitech, klispch (sp?), and some of the nicer altec speakers are nice.

As I was reading this a buddy walked by and said "Your speakers are much better then the ones on my laptop (his new iBook)." Just thought you should know that the $9 middle speaker is worth it.
