Oh whatever would we do without creating a new Gmail thread every day? How terrible to be forced to use an existing thread to discuss the same existing topic!

Why do people want Hotmail, or Yahoo Mail, or any email? It's email, man.

since i don't feel like even spending 5 seconds discussing the practices that google's implementing in their gmail, i won't.

gmail - not hotmail or yahoo. it's new and improved! : \

If you are bitching about the ads, why are you? Hotmail has ads...yahoo has ads...and if you dont WANT a gmail, or dont want to DISCUSS it, why make a comment on a topic that you dont want to discuss?

cause i'm a fscking baby.

actually..

I noticed you had 8 posts, and had just registered. When I saw you comparing it to the likes of yahoo (last I checked yahoo didn't scan my emails for info and then hit me up with ads about it on the next go-round) I said to myself 'hmm, he must think they're the_same_thing'

soo, my response 'i don't feel like spending 5 seconds discussing bla bla' should have been 'I don't feel like discussing this with YOU, as you probably have a GMail tattoo on your wrist or tit, and if you think yahoo/gmail are the same, I'll wait till someone else responds with a more intelligent answer'

so, yea. I was trying to be pleasant around the new guy. but you've typed in CAPS to me since then, so, eh..

i've never gotten an ad from gmail...

but i do have 150 spam messages. never seen one of those. maybe gmail sends all of their ads to the spam bucket automatically?

No, it's for threading and search. After using it for a few months, I think it's amazing.

I'd hate to sent stuff to Gmail.
I hope I don't have to deal with that.

Gmail bots scan your e-mail and serve you discreet ads based on the keywords you've used. Apparently some think this is akin to having the Feds secretly videotape you in the shower. I must admit, I'm not the most trusting soul in the world, but this seems just a leeetle paranoid to me.

Having said that, I don't really use gmail for personal mail. But as a secondary address for managing mailing lists etc., it works great. Funnily enough I've still not had had any genuine spam to my gmail account, despite being signed up for a dozen or so lists and carelessly leaving my address around on various BBSs

Mmm, i offered someone a gmail account - the person was like, 12 - and it got rejected because his dad said no. he was afraid that the computers would grow brains and come over to their house and kill them all in their sleep.... so therefore, a perfectly good gmail invite was wasted!
