District Attorney Expected To Press Charges Thursday

POSTED: 4:53 pm CDT October 13, 2004

MILWAUKEE -- Shortly after midnight Wednesday, a Milwaukee landlord called police to report that one of her tenants was trying to sell her 6-day-old baby to a neighbor for $10.

"Well a lot of things go through your mind, like, 'What do you mean she's trying to sell you her baby?' You know what I'm saying? So I just called the police. That was the first thing that I could think of," landlord Tameka Lockett said.

When police went inside the woman's home, they found a 1-year-old child unattended to and trash strewn all over the place. The home had no bed, no crib and no stove.

Police said the woman was drunk when they got there.

The 1-year-old child and the newborn were placed in protective custody and the woman has been arrested.

"She was arrested for the unauthorized placement of a child, and then once the officers did more investigation, they're also going to be charging her with neglect because of the living conditions inside her house," Milwaukee police Sgt. Ken Henning said.

Neighbors said they didn't know the woman very well. She had just moved in Oct. 1.

They said she seemed to be struggling, but they never suspected she would try to sell her newborn.

The district attorney's office is expected to review the two possible charges against the woman Thursday.

It's actually too much compared to fare market value. But if this is what people are letting pass as an acceptable value, so be it.

Unfortunately the required investment needed to have the spawn grow to an appropriate mass for the harvesting of organs greatly outweights the possible initial profit.

So I take it you're in?

I hear you can get $20,000 for a kidney, food couldn't cost that much.

Yeah, if you want the spawn to weigh 70 pounds at age 12.

You're fired.

70 pounds is plenty to support a kidney or two. Besides, it will take up less space.

When I read the title, was afraid that it was talking about a baby. Very sad. Just another reason why parents should have go through training and take a vigorous test for a license.

Just restart the window manager. No need to zero-out the huge uptime we've accumulated.

Dr. Hibbert: Congratulations, Mrs. Simpson: you're pregnant.
Marge: Mmm...
Dr. Hibbert: Am I to take it that this is (chuckles) an unwanted pregnancy?
Marge: Oh, no, no, not exactly. It's just that I haven't told Homer yet, and with his new job, I don't know how we're going to be able to afford this.
Dr. Hibbert: Well, you know a healthy baby can bring upwards of $60,000.
Marge: What?!
Dr. Hibbert: Well, of course, that was just a test. Er, had you reacted differently, you'd be in jail right now. Simply a test.(laughs uncomfortably)

I thought this was going to be about pot.
