That mouse is designed by Philippe Starck. He's a contract industrial designer. M$ has it's own industrial design group; why they would contract Starck is beyond me. That thing is Ugly.

and having the mouse a kinda similar look to the PowerMac and PowerBook cases (colour), could it be a message for MS, for Apple, both maybe?

for Apple: give your users a new mouse.

for MS: well, you ask me about a nice mouse, I give you an Apple hardware look mouse.

Starck designed my fossil watch, but i don't think he did suck a great job with this mouse though.

it's unlikely that Starck would have copied apple design. According to Starck, "the symmetry of the design was inspired by the two hemispheres of the human brain, with the lighted orange or blue strips signifying life flowing down the center". As for the colour matching powerbooks and G5's, M$ has has al coloured mice since before the G5 or AL PBs.

Thanks to let me know about that. Certainly the mouse looks like a human brain, I would like to see it on real life, talking about 'brain', it also looks like the Samus Arans morphoesphera (from the Metroid game series)

come on, it's obvious. Gates has seen Apple win awards for things Ives has come up with, so he wants his own version, just like every other Apple success. and just like everything else he's ripped off in the past, he's got it wrong.

Visnaut: A buddy of mine had the exact same reaction. He suggested that they call this mouse, "The Vulva."

My previous ms mouse just 'died' yesterday, still waiting for a new Apple mouse or a nice bluetooth mouse. Currently using an Apple USB Mouse.

two things wrong .. in terms of powerbook use. it's too big (huge .. regular mouse sized or slightly larger)

not bluetooth ...

Just got mine on Saturday. It's beautiful and tracks very well. Moreover, it doesn't say MS on it anywhere, and it's inexpensive.

I am very satisfied.

Was in Microcenter today and played around with it for awhile. Seemed like a decent mouse. Didn't pick one up tho' as I'm very happy with my MX500.

I dig it.

I've been happy with the standard Apple mouse that came with my iMac, but if it suffers a demise I'll probably give that one a whirl.

I have one and I think it's awesome. I loved the design of the pro mouse, but it just wasn't practical. This mouse looks good, matches with my Powerbook/Al Cinema Display, and is quite functional. $29 well spent I think.

Hey it does look like a big old cootch!

Anywho, the two reviews I have read on it were both negative.

The professional reviews were negative not the "I paid for it, so I better like it" reviews.

One was on Cnet I think and they said the buttons were awkward to push the it was to long and narrow for adult hands.

I got it on sale, and I don't like the action of the buttons. Nice IMO on the outside but cheap on the inside.
