I went to the Austin, TX Apple Retail Store this past weekend to compare the 15" PowerBook and the 17" PowerBook. The ONLY negative thing I can say about the 17" PB is that the trackpad button seems quite a bit harder to click than on the 12" and 15" models. And I looked at several different models and they were all like this. Is this everyone else's experience as well?

I had to take my 17 in for adjustment as the clickpad was very, very stiff. Since, it works like a champ/

How is this supposed to help ease the trackpad button click tension?

I guess by making part of the pad into a button, so you won't need to use the real button any more. Not really a solution to a stiff button though....

Yeah, that's not something I'm interested in doing. That's like grabbing a mop when a sink is overflowing instead of turning off the faucet. In other words, that's a Band-Aid, not a true fix.

In my experience in general you're right the 17" Powerbook mouse pad button is harder to click than either the 15" or 12" Powerbook. I think this is because of the size of the 17" Powerbooks trackpad button, there's more area so it' takes a little more pressure to click.

I'm 95% sure it will loosen up after some use. Just force yourself to use it fgor a while longer and see what happens. My 12" iBook button felt the same way at first but already feels better after two weeks of use. If that doesn't work for you, you can use the trackpad to click by going to Keyboard and Mouse preferences and checking the appropriate box.
