I thought I'd post this in the feedback forum, as it seems that a few of us are having problems as of late using Safari on the Forums. For me, the problem has been mainly opening threads or trying to post replies.
When replying, I'll get the beachball every few seconds while typing the post, and the text falls way behind as I type (I have to wait 2-3 seconds to see the word I just typed). This just started in the last week or two. Any ideas? I don't think it can be solely the animated .gifs, as I've always had them on and have never had problems before.

Well, I sent a bug report to Apple as well, because if it is the animations, then Safari is not handling them correctly.

sadly the smilies in the post-reply page still move the CPU to 100% in vb3. so yeah, it might be a safari issue.
the beachball might be a response to the javascript strangeness we've been having lately though.

Just as I was reading this thread, I got it on Safari. Had to force quit.

Yeah, Safari's animation handling is awful.
You can deactivate the bank of smilies in your user settings, though. (I did, and it helps.)

Looks like Safari 1.2.4 has fixed the animation problem. I can edit posts now and the animations on the edit page no longer bring Safari to a halt.

Anyone figure this out???
Beachballing occurs whenever I'm on eBay and try to switch either tab or window ... ??
I have plenty of RAM.

I've stopped using Safari. Too much of exactly what is described in this thread.

I guess we'll just have to wait another 5 months for it.
I also had problems in Sfari, but those were almost always in the GUI forum, when a thread would take 4 minutes to load and go beachball the whole time.
