I'm still leaning towards thinking the rumors about Tiger coming out next month are too good to be true, but I'd like to be wrong. When will you be buying Tiger? I can't decide if I will order it online or go to the Apple store and pick up a copy for my PowerBook. I'm also waiting for Tiger so I can buy a Mac mini.

How about you?

Well, for my laptop I'll most likely get it when Apple ships the PowerBook G5.

I'm an ADC member, so I'll be getting it in the mail... sometime. I'm curious as to how quickly they get them out this time.

I'm definitely going to wait if it *is* dropping in just a few weeks. I'll want to spend some time with it in an Apple Store to see if the Finder is any more stable or just as much a P.O.S. as Panther's (and the X predecessors).

Of course I'll wait to see how many of my apps are suddenly SOL and requiring PAID updates to be Tiger compatible. (read: stable!)

Tiger also looks like crap. I hate Apple for mutilating AQUA so badly.

I'll drop the hard end $ when:
1. It can connect to AD without any prayers etc from the sys admins (yes the real world)
2. Printing works and I'm talking 30k xerox machines and above
3. Bill gates admits he's a fraud and gives all his stolen money back, ok I can dream,,,,

We have a local Apple store, so I anticipate being there the afternoon it's released.

I'm not going to rush out to buy Tiger and will instead probably wait for 10.4.1 or so. But anyone who refuses to upgrade will be missing out on not only Tiger but also all the new versions of Apple software that will require it. If you care enough about Apple to be on MacNN, you need to stay current with OS X's major revisions.

Same day it comes out, traffic be darned. I'm a glutton for Apple software updates -- even if it bites me hard.

Must be a student, then. Those with seed keys should get seeded the GM (as an FC) ahead of time, no?

As I recall, every time so far, yes.

(We've got the 'Select' deal.)

I hope Apple overnights shipments for pre-orders like they did with Panther so we can get it the same day as if we went to a store. It will be interesting if they do decide to ship it stealthily next month -- exactly opposite of the countdown for panther.

if it does become available April 1 ... it might push me over the edge for a new 15" PB so I'll get it then.
if it doesn't then I'll probably wait until early adopters have found the bugs... the rumours 10.3.9 will probably keep me going for a while

I'll get it whichever way I can get it first. I don't trust pre-orders unless they're going to come before the item is available in stores. It's much easier to just walk into the store and know I will leave with it in my hands. Of course with Apple products there's always a chance the store will run out, so if I can't be there right when it's released I might have to order.

I'll pre-order online and get my educational discount, and get it the day it's released that way (just like Panther).

I'm planning to preorder as soon as it's available for preorder on apple.com. I want the educational discount, but I sort of doubt that my school's bookstore will get it in as soon as it's released, so I'm hoping preordering will be faster.

I don't have a moral objection to paying for good software. I only object to paying for crap that some should be ashamed to charge for. I will buy Tiger at apple.com I imagine sometime shortly after release.

I'm not desparate, Panther is already the best OS available for a PC-type computer bar none. It's not like 10.3 is going to instantly be garbage the second 10.4 comes out. I'm looking forward to some things (widgets and search) but not so much so that I'm going to act like a freak and wait all night in a line or anything.
