Anyone heard, have a set of Sound sticks?. Are they that muh betetr than the internal speakers. Whats the general opinion of the Isub?, does anyone have expereince with other USB speaker/Sub setups? yamaha, phillips? other?? is the USB speaker setup worthwhile,. would an analogue speaker setup be ok? (line out).. what is a good line out speaker setup if its better/no different to the USB system?.

I have an iSub. It definitely improves the sound of the iMac's built-in speakers and gives you pretty good sound. That's good enough for me. I don't use my computer for serious tunes-playing. But for games and the occasional MP3 I'm happy with it. (I should note that I lucked into an iSub for 40 bucks; I probably wouldn't have paid the full $99. I'm not sure it's worth it.)

If it's serious, rich, knock-your-socks-off sound you're after, you're probably better off with Monsoons or something similar. Others could recommend some top-of-the-line speakers better than I can.

I haven't listened to a set of SoundSticks firsthand, but MacNN has posted a review. Check it out.

I own those very same Monsoon speakers/subwoofers. I Agree 101% with that review. Have compared side x side. The base and mid-range is far superior on the Monsoons and highs are crisp and clear however the satellites are rather directional & must be aimed (as do most small speakers in that $ range). While testing them out, I walked all around the room amazed by the fact that I couldn't locate an obvious "source" yet channel seperation was always clear.

The satellite speakers are flat as a pancake (literally) but the sound is huge!

Apple flavored "Ice" is available for a $20 (US) premium.

Great buy!

BTW, the retail price for this great system
is about $149. Bought mine at Comp USA WITH a $50 mail-in rebate...$99 WOW!

They'll work with any iMac as long as it's running OS 9.0.4.
