Is anyone playing this new game? It was released simultaneously for Mac, PC, and Xbox, just wondering if anyone has it and likes it or not?

I'm too addicted to RTCW ET to look at anything else right now.
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

Played a few missions so far, but haven't really been too impressed yet. Graphics look great in the screen shots, but even at 1600x1200, the visuals seem a little previous-generation, and flat. Also, I don't seem to really NEED to use my fire team effectively to get through missions. And the missions are very linear--ie, you have a very defined course to follow in the maps, and little sense of being in a wide open world.

Am I missing something? Anyone else playing?

I have the game and am enjoying it quite well. I wouldn't say it's the best i have seen, but all in all it isn't bad. Problem i am having with it is in the level where you are protecting the two news people and have to escort them to a roof top for pickup is, how the heck do you control those two jerks? They run around all over the place, run out ahead of you, or stay back and you end up restarting the level dozens of times because "you didn't protect them"...

You can make your buddies "hold position", but i can't find anyway to make those 2 idiots stay close where they can be protected... Anyone know?

I've changed my mind on this title. I played another 20 minutes after posting my last message on the subject, and then started to get into a groove with the game. You definitely DO need to use your team to stay alive, and once you get comfortable giving each team member orders (singularly and then sometimes as a group), you can start to really use them effectively. I've had fun playing a bunch of levels, but haven't gotten to the "protect the newsreporters" level yet.

One thing I STILL don't like is that the game strives for heavy realism in commanding your fire squad, but then has video gamey elements as well, like the fact that you can get shot multiple times, and repeatedly heal yourself. I prefer the one-shot-one-kill approach of Ghost Reconn to preserve realism, and to force you to be really careful about how you approach a situation. I also don't like the fact that when a Marine on your team gets shot, you can call in for a medic, and a single guy shows up in about 10 seconds--how this medic managed to move his way, alone, through the mean streets of Beirut without getting shot is beyond me. Personally, I would prefer to actually have to use your team mates to carry a wounded marine to an evac point--again, this approach would not be as fast paced as the current solution, but it's definitely realistic and lets me experience what these scenarios are truly like for real soldiers.

How many months do you think it would take to finish the game if you had a 1 hit you die set up...(G)

By the way i finally made it to the chopper with the press...kill everything you can in the other buildings, take out the tank gunner and the two guys in the parking building, then take everyone out the door to the fire escape and to the ground. Be ready to take out two baddies who will come around the corner and then head for the garage and what awaits you there...

GhostRecon handled it well, and didn't take months to finish!
