I've been watching the first three seasons of 24 via Netflix, and I just finished them. I loved them so much that I'm going through withdrawal! Well, not really, but I do miss watching them. Does anyone have any suggestions for other shows I might like? I also enjoyed the first three seasons of Alias. Smallville looks interesting, but I've heard that it's a lot of actionless drama, and people who like Smallville apparently like Buffy the Vampire Slayer more than 24 and Alias. Monk is cute, but it's not nearly as fun to watch as 24. I just don't know what's out there...I've always been a movie person, but have started to enjoy more TV shows after being able to watch them on DVD.

Some movies I love are The Count of Monte Cristo, Back to the Future, Glory, Home Alone, Hotel Rwanda, The Hurricane, Phone Booth, Planet of the Apes (1968), Seabiscuit, and Shaun of the Dead...just as a frame of reference (they're in alphabetical order, as I copy/pasted from thefacebook).

Oh, the dilemma .

I'm watching 24 on DVD right now as well. Good stuff.

It's a little different but I also enjoy CSI, not the Miami or NY ones so much.

If not TV, try a book or audiobook.

It's funny...

I got so into the series that I, too, (temporarily) want to be a CTU agent. Of course, that's what we all feel. Until we remember that we'd make horrible CTU agents. Well, at least most of us .

Stupid fantasies. I used to want to be a Power Ranger , but I think I'll stick with engineering for the moment.

I'd say Stargate SG-1!!!

I'm a big Sci-Fi fan so anything that's weird, is cool. Accept anything Star Trek, that is. Too bad we don't have the same tv channels in Holland as you guys have in the US, I so want Sci-Fi

I'll throw in a vote for Smallville. Yes, some of the episodes are over dramatized with the "love" crap, but that's to be expected. All in all, it makes for a fun and entertaining TV show -- especially if you're a Superman fan.

I'll also throw a vote for Monk. I've always been a fan of Tony Shalhoub because he can take any role and make it hilarious -- and that's what he does with Monk. The subtleties in the show are great, and since I'm a bit of a germaphobe, I like watching his psychosis. Start watching it at the very beginning, though.

I'm also one of the many -- yes there are a lot of us -- that really liked Firefly, so I recommend that show, too.

NewsRadio is the best show in the history of TV. You should get that. Of course, it has very little in common with 24 (except I love them both). You'll be so busy laughing that you won't care.

I'll also vote for Monk, Smallville, and Lost (when it's released).

The Shield is my second favorite show (behind 24). Definitely get the DVDs. Alias is good, but I never got into it because it was on at the same time as The West Wing.

i'll second these two votes. just be aware that the first season of Smallville is very "kryptonite baddy of the week." gets better in the second season.

Watch the last 10 minutes of Smallville when Clark uses his powers. The rest is mind-numbing teen-angst drama with Lana sure to turn in a crying performance weekly.

Lois is hot though.

Seconding recommendations for The Shield and Stargate SG-1. Both are very well-done shows: good writing, good acting, and they even have senses of humor. If you're used to 24 or Alias, The Shield might feel more serious in the sense that it isn't too far-fetched, whereas Stargate might feel more fantastic (even though it isn't nearly as far-fetched as most other shows/etc that start with "Star-"). So it depends what your tastes are, but they're both definitely worth a shot.

Lost might actually be worthwhile on DVD, since you'll be able to fast-forward through all the filler. And if you're taking recommendations for shows besides action/dramas, Home Movies is excellent (as someone mentioned above) and also Arrested Development, which is probably the funniest show I've ever seen. (Even if you aren't particularly looking for a comedy, if you rent Arrested Development it's a sure bet you'll be in love by the middle of the first disc.)

Enterprise...

Besides, you are in the superior position to have one 24 season left!

The first and second seasons were excellent. Celebrity Mole was dumbed down a bit, but still enjoyable. The Mole was definitely the best reality show. The people actually seemed real.

The first season and the third (Celebrity Mole Hawaii) are on DVD.

I liked the Mole because others never voted them out they vote themselves out in a sense. I may actually get that DVD...I like Stephen Baldwin and Corbin Bersons wackiness. It was a fun show to watch.

My roomies and I watched this last season of 24 just because it got so funny and outlandish towards the end. Seriously, the first half was slightly believable, but man, did it get just over the edge.
