I'm on holiday with friends in the BVI in the Carribean - we caught a few of these fish (this one was returned for being too small)

Anyway - we can't seem to identify it - anyone know?

The most obvious feature is a lateral ridge that runs from the tail, then up in an arc to the eye-line.

I have no idea. It's a beautiful fish, happy to hear that you out him back.

Looks like a blue runner to me, and a decent sized one at that. Not worth much to eat, but makes a dandy bait for a larger critter.

I agree it is a blue runner. Not round enough to be a pompano

Thanks all

We did return that one - but eat two larger ones - they were pretty good stuffed with Coriander and Limes and BBQ'ed. Turned out nicer than the mackerel we caught.

The resemblance to Charlie seems obvious to me!

It doesn't look like Bob to me at all.
