I'm a huge fan of Logitech's Z-3 speaker line. For $60-$80 bucks I don't think you can find a better set of 2.1 speakers. Clean sound, solid bass, and they look great.

But I'm getting a new DP2.7 on Friday and I wanted to move on up a bit - to better reproduce audio from video projects (I dont need studio monitor quality, just something that can reproduce bigger) and of course, wanting to blast DVD, music and games.

Picked up Logitech's Z-2300 2.1 system. The box was a lot bigger and heavier than I thought. Set those bad boys up (the subwoofer is huge compared to the Z-3's), broke them in for a few days with my usual breaking-in mix of Tori Amos, Dredg, Coheed and Cambria, and Brand New...

... no joke, these speakers could blow my windows out. The sound is big, clean, accurate. The bass is clean and accurate when I need it, and doom-bringing when I want to blast media. Having the bass level knob on the wired remote is a godsend - on the Z-3's the knob is on the back of the subwoofer, which is a pain in the rear.

So if you're looking for a pair of 2.1 speakers you absolutely cannot go wrong with these suckers!

CompUSA. I woulda got them from Amazon for like $40 less and saved on tax but as the building where I work was closed last week, I couldn't have them delivered.

I've been interested in these because they're reasonably priced and THX certified to boot, and everywhere I look for new 2.1's I see 'em.

-BUT-

I hate the Z-3's with a burning passion. I think they're terrible sounding. So I'm not sure if I can trust these. On the other hand, my Z-5500's together with DVD player rock the house (literally!) and really do produce movie-theater, THX certified-worthy sound. Obviously I'm going to have to have a listen to them, maybe I'll head down to CompUSA or BestBuy this weekend and see if they have demo units...
