I have an external usb drive i'm trying to erase. The drive won,t show up on the desktop, but the Disk Utility can show it. When I try to erase it, the disk utility starts then just hangs. Disk Warrior doesn't see the drive. Techtool does; and when I check it everything checks including surface scan. But when I try to wipe the drive Techtool does't see it.

Any suggestions as to what program I can use to erase the disk?

I have experienced freezes and problems when attempting to mass erase a hard drive with bad media.
Does your drive have surface errors?

When I checked the surface scan with Techtool pro; no errors were indicated. I'm at the present time using Disk Utility to try to correct errors but it's hung up the same as when I try to do an erase
