I remember in the first version of Tiger I couldn't easily from the GUI remove widgets I installed but didn't like.

I'm now running 10.4.2. I remember seeing once that there was a way to remove them now but can't remember. I want to delete some and not just disable them.

Also, will this also remove any associated preferences files?

Thanks very much in advance!!!

Chris

Look in /Library/Widgets and /Users/YOU/Library/Widgets and delete from there.

Use the 'Widgets' widget to remove them.

Don't delete the /Library/Widgets or you'll never get them back. Those are the default Apple ones.

All the Widgets in ~/Library/Widgets (aka /Users/YOU/Library/Widgets), though, are the ones you've installed. But Thinine is right, use Apple's "Widgets" widget and click the red "-" icon to delete them. I don't know about pref files, or if all widgets create them.

Be aware that any widgets you installed prior to 10.4.2 will not show up with a - delete sign in the Widget manager. Only ones that you have installed since then do, so you will have to delete them manually anyway.

Also, preferences are not moved to the trash by the Widget manager. You will have to do that by hand as well.
