do you know for certain that one is out there, or are you being hopeful?

i know there is a psx (playstation one) emulator and it is not all that speedy on 1.25ghz g4 powerbook nor my 1.8ghz g5 iMac, so i really doubt an xbox emulator would work nicely.

If there was one, it'd be at: www.emulation.net (when it's working, they're having hosting problems.)

They pretty much have every emulator for the Mac. If there isn't one for the xBox there, then there probably isn't one period.

The Xbox is pretty powerful and specialized. I don't think current gen Macs would have the power to emulate it.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

It would be reasonably simple to emulate the Processor (it's X86). Though very expensive in terms of computation. I don't know about the GPU.

There has probably been no ports of the XBox emulators on the PC side to Mac, because it's reasonable to assume that those emulators are only emulating the hardware, and not the processor (no need, since one already has an X86). I guess it would be like that thing where you can run Linux within Linux (UML??), or even Apple's Classic environment for Mac OS 9.

I would assume we're not getting one until Macs move to Intel processors.

It's more than just an x86 implementation. The GPU and CPU spend a lot of time communicating, and all the games are really video-intensive, so I think a "simple" emulation would be pretty lame-Halo would be a no-go for sure (the orignial X Box stutters sometimes with Halo), and a lot of other games would drag or skip a lot of frames too.

Also there are no XBox emulators for Windows either. The only one that really exists only plays Halo.

No, there are no real XBox emulators for PC or Mac.

If you want to play Halo buy Halo for Macintosh.

But hold onto your PPC Mac, so you can run the XBox 360 emulator.

There are two emulators for XBox for PC, but one can only play XBox Halo, and the other can only play XBox Turok. Neither have sound. So no, there aren't any real emulators.

Sorry, I don't have it anymore.

It doesn't have multiplayer, it doesn't have sound, why would you want it anyway? Just buy Halo Macintosh.

I can't understand why there isn't a decent PS1 emulator for Mac any more, considering Virtual Game Station used to run on G3 iMacs. I know Connectrix were stopped by Sony, but surely individual enthusiasts should be able to see how they did it and build their own PS1 emulator that runs on OSX.

In the mean time I'm happy with my SNES emulator, especially since I got a genuine SNES joypad and an adapter off eBay! It rocks.

pcsx, not too sure what the development on it is like right now though. it got a beta release earlier in the year, and nothing since then. one or two posts on the main page, but that's it.
